Before You Begin
Before setting up the Intercom integration, make sure you have:
- An Intercom account (any plan)
- Admin access to your Intercom workspace
- An Orbit AI account with at least one form
Choose Your Setup Method
You can sync form submissions to Intercom in two ways. Choose based on your needs:Integration Page
Connect Intercom via OAuth and configure field mappings from your Integrations page.Best for:
- Quick OAuth setup
- Simple 1:1 form-to-Intercom mapping
- Syncing all submissions without filtering
Workflows
Add Intercom as a destination in your workflows for advanced control over which leads sync.Best for:
- Filtering by lead score or qualification
- Enriching data before syncing
- Combining with AI Agent qualification

Integration Page Setup
Connect Intercom to Orbit AI via OAuth and configure which forms sync to your workspace.Step 1: Connect Your Intercom Workspace
Security note: Orbit AI uses OAuth and never stores your Intercom password. You can revoke access at any time from your Intercom app settings.
Step 2: Choose Contact Type
Select whether form submissions should create Leads or Users in Intercom:Lead
For visitors who haven’t signed up yet. Best for contact forms, demo requests, and landing pages.
User
For signed up customers. Best for feedback forms, support requests, and in-app surveys.
Step 3: Configure Field Mappings
Go to the Field Mapping tab
After connecting, click the “Field Mapping” tab in the Intercom configuration panel.
Select a form to configure
You’ll see a list of your forms. Click on the form you want to sync to Intercom.
Map your form fields
For each form field, select the corresponding Intercom attribute from the dropdown.

Additional Settings
Auto-Tagging
Enter a tag name (e.g., “form-submission”) to automatically tag all contacts created from forms. Great for filtering and targeting in campaigns.Activity Notes
Enable to create branded notes on contact records showing full form submission details. Your team can see exactly what the contact submitted.Duplicate Handling
Choose what happens when a contact with the same email exists: Update (merge new data), Skip (don’t modify), or Create New (always create).Using Intercom with Workflows
For advanced automation, add Intercom as a destination in your workflows. This gives you more control over which submissions get sent.Use workflows when you need to:
- Only sync to Intercom after AI qualifies the lead
- Add enriched data from Clay before creating contacts
- Route to different contact types based on form answers
- Sync to multiple destinations (Intercom + HubSpot)
